Meridian Safety Pty Ltd is currently developing a Truck and Trailer Fall Arrest System that provides an overhead Fall Arrest solution for use on flat bed trailers and the like. This has been undertaken in response to serious safety concerns that exist within the Transport industry. Despite recent concerted efforts to maintain the safety of drivers at all times during loading, transport and unloading type operations, serious injuries and deaths have continued to occur.
There are a number of activities that are required to be carried out by truck drivers that involve them climbing up onto their trailer or even the cargo itself. Some of these activities include cargo positioning and securing, tarping, mid transport inspection and unloading. Due to the fact that these tasks are often unavoidable, it has become evident that a Fall Arrest system is required for such applications. It is important that such a system provide minimal disruptions to the normal operations of the truck and trailer whilst also affording maximum protection and user friendliness to the operator. The Meridian Safety Trailer Fall Arrest System provides an optimal solution for all of these needs. Some of the features of the system include:
- Overhead Fall Arrest System that is deployed by the push of a button and is ready to use within 1minute.
- Provides freedom for the user to move anywhere on the trailer or cargo.
- Ensures that falls are arrested within 1m (3’) so that protection is even afforded to the user when they are close to the ground.
- Will not impede loading operations by forklift or crane.
- Will not reduce available cargo space.
- Does not require re-engineering of the trailer.
