The T-FAST was developed as a result of the unique attributes of the T-Line Safety System, that enable it to arrest a fall within much smaller distances over long spans. This made the T-Line ideal for use in applications such as trailer transport.

The Transport industry has been searching for a fall protection solution for some time, due to the severe injuries and even deaths that have occurred, especially whilst working on top of flatbed trailers and their cargo. Whilst the industry has been making every effort to eliminate the need for drivers to climb on top of the load, it has not been possible to totally prevent it. One key area that needs to be addressed is when the drivers are out making deliveries etc as they need a safety system that can travel with the trailer.

Meridian Safety Pty Ltd is currently developing a Truck and Trailer Fall Arrest System that provides an overhead Fall Arrest solution for use on flat bed trailers and the like. This has been undertaken in response to serious safety concerns that exist within the Transport industry. Despite recent concerted efforts to maintain the safety of drivers at all times during loading, transport and unloading type operations, serious injuries and deaths have continued to occur.

There are a number of activities that are required to be carried out by truck drivers that involve them climbing up onto their trailer or even the cargo itself. Some of these activities include cargo positioning and securing, tarping, mid transport inspection and unloading. Due to the fact that these tasks are often unavoidable, it has become evident that a Fall Arrest system is required for such applications. It is important that such a system provide minimal disruptions to the normal operations of the truck and trailer whilst also affording maximum protection and user friendliness to the operator. The Meridian Safety Trailer Fall Arrest System provides an optimal solution for all of these needs. Some of the features of the system include:

• Provides freedom for the user to move anywhere on the trailer or cargo.
• Ensures that falls are arrested within 1m (3") so that protection is even afforded to the user when they are close to the ground.
