"The May 2008 issue of Professional Safety, a publication by the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), features two major articles that examine the issue of height safety in the Truck Transportation Industry.

The articles examine the most common types of Truck Transportation and the range of tasks that are required to be performed by workers, which have significant height safety concerns. The currently available Fall Protection and Fall Prevention Systems are also discussed, with an emphasis on previously un identified applications.

Tarping of Flatbed Trailers is identified as a particularly dangerous activity that occurs across a wide range of industries. A range of possible solutions are discussed, however the need for a far more advanced solution is made evident.

The recent deaths that have occurred both in America and Australia have demonstrated just how important it is that a viable solution be developed for this growing concern. It is for this reason that Meridian Safety will remain dedicated to the development of their Trailer Fall Arrest System as the early stage investigations have already highlighted significant advantages over any systems that are currently available.
